Interview with jessica drake
September 30, 2008 by Christina
First off, for those who might not know you, what is your name and please describe yourself?
I’m jessica drake, Wicked Pictures contract girl. I’m from Texas, and I’m 5’8″, honey blonde hair, brown eyes and long legs.
You have been with Wicked Pictures for five years now, what was it like when they offered you the contract and how has it been working with them since?
Everything has changed, yet nothing has changed. I was actually about to sign with another adult company and I got a phone call from two people here at Wicked. They asked if I had officially signed yet, and since I hadn’t, they asked me to come into the office for a meeting. I remember I met with Steve O, the owner, at the end of the day on a Friday. Within our impromptu hour-long meeting at the end of the day, I realized that we were really on the same page when it came to ideas about my career and the things that I wanted to accomplish in this business long-term. I knew I came into the adult world to make an impact and become known. What I didn’t know was that I would go on to represent such an amazing company, and brand myself right along beside their name. Every great thing I’ve done in this business I owe to Wicked. I’ve traveled all over the world, met so many fans, established an adult toy line, starred in amazing movies, won many awards, hosted the 2007 AVN Awards, where I won both Best Actress Film and Best Girl/Girl Scene Film, developed my own website that I run everyday myself, and now I’ve been writing and directing as well. I think I’m a very lucky girl. But in the end, nothing is different in that they are still doing exactly what they promised from day one, and I’m very happy with them.
You have done a lot of Wicked’s biggest movies over the years as well. This year your big movie is Fallen. Tell us about your character and the movie in general?
I think that Fallen is the best movie I’ve done so far. I play an angel who is supposed to be looking out for Denise, played by Jenna Haze. When her routine changes one day, I’m not paying attention, and she is killed in an accident. As punishment, I am banished from the heavens down to the earth and in my dark despair; I have sex with nearly everyone my path crosses. By chance, I meet Keith, a bicycle messenger, played by Brad Armstrong who I’m immediately attracted to. It’s a dark film, but within lies a complex love story and in time Keith coaxes me back to a happier time, but does it last? You’ll have to see the movie!
The sex is awesome. I’m in almost every scene, and most are anal. I’m in a big orgy and do my very first DP with guys. I also do a DP with Randy Spears and a nightstick! I think sometimes people can get caught up in the “bigness” of a project and when you have intricate wardrobes and expensive locations and a heavy script, sometimes the sex is neglected, but for Fallen this wasn’t the case. Every sex scene I did, I got into it more. When I watched the final cut of the movie recently, my jaw just hit the floor. I think all of the sex is very strong.
Being that it was such a big production, how is filming a movie like that compared to the regular ones that are shot throughout the year?
I think when we have a big movie like Fallen, especially during shooting, people see what we’re trying to do and how we just throw ourselves all the way into it- and even with the long hours and so many days, everyone just takes bigger movies very seriously. That being said, even when I shoot a movie in three days, I do the very best I can do.
You have recently decided to start directing as well; in fact you filmed your first movie already. What is it like being behind the camera as compared to performing in front of the camera?
First, I’ve been ADing (assistant director) for Brad Armstrong for 2-3 years now. I always wanted to direct, but I wanted to learn it from the ground up. I’ve also been writing for two years. I wrote Just Between Us, Dating 101, What Girls Like, and my favorite, Love Always, just to name a few. I have other scripts that I’m working on now to direct later this year or early next. What Girls Like was my first solo attempt. I wrote it, directed it, and was in it too, doing my first scene ever with two guys! I like a challenge. Both being in front and behind the camera are really demanding, just in different ways. Being talent is easier. As a director you’re taking responsibility for the entire project. If something goes wrong, it’s on you. I love it though. I learned a lot from my first movie, and I can’t wait to do more.
You are also writing movies now as well. What would you say is your style as far as writing, do you like dramatic stuff or do you prefer the lighter side of things?
I think I prefer drama. I usually write about things that have happened to me, things that have happened to close friends, or something I feel very strongly about and it’s usually all drama!
You have also been nominated and won many awards, what would you say is the award you were most happy when you received it?
That’s a good question. I’d choose two that really stand out. The first was when I won Best Actress for Fluff and Fold. It was my first acting award from AVN. I was so excited! We knew that movie had some magic in it. I’m just glad everyone else saw it. I felt really accomplished when I won that one. The second was the year I was hosting the AVN Award Show. Every once in awhile I’d be backstage while people were presenting other awards. I had my assistant with me, and my makeup artist. When nominees were announced, I’d try to predict the winners. The Best Actress Film Award came up and I remember I was crouched down on the floor. I couldn’t sit in that dress, and one person was doing my hair, another touching up my makeup, and I had a bottled water in my hand. When they announced they nominees, I bet on Janine. When they called my name, I screamed, jumped up, screamed some more, and went flying out to the stage. I won for Manhunters, which up until Fallen, was my biggest movie yet. And I spilled water everywhere.
What is your biggest fantasy?
It changes all the time, because I usually do them every time I have a new one! I’m kind of spoiled like that. It was to blow a bunch of guys in an elevator. I did that in Bad Girls. We’re about to shoot a movie with every Wicked Girl in it, and I’m planning something cool for that one too.
What sort of things were you interested in when you were younger?
Singing, acting, dancing, reading, maybe being a CSI or lawyer, I argue really well.
What sort of things are you into when you are not working?
Honestly, I love to cook, do laundry, read, and learn stuff on the computer. I can be such a homebody! That is, when I’m not at a swinger’s party. I like all the girly things too, the spa, shopping, tanning.
Can you share a silly, stupid, funny or embarrassing story that happened that you can share with our fans?
They happen all the time! Just the other day, I was at a Starbucks, and a guy followed me out to my car. I was in no makeup, jeans, a wifebeater, ponytail, and sunglasses, and he said he knew it was me right away and then asked me to sign his venti cafe mocha! A bagger at my nearest grocery store once had me sign a brown shopping bag, I’ve signed asses, arms, tits, guitars, panties, cars, motorcycles, casts, girlfriends, you name it.
Are there any projects or special events coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?
Fallen ships next week and we’re doing a big contest to promote it. Go to www.wicked.com/fallen for details!
I’m doing a signing tour for Fallen also. Check my website calendar for more details.
I dance all over the world, check my calendar!
What Girls Like comes out on Oct 1st and after that I’ll be working on other movies to direct and/or star in. Also, I launched jessicadrake.com four months ago, and it’s gotten so big so fast! I do everything myself. I update it, answer everyone’s messages and emails, and post new pictures every day. So if you want to get personal with me, that’s the best place to do.
