What is the one object of my desire right now?

An iPhone 4.

The multitude of things I could do with this phone – video blogs straight to the soon to be new and improved RavenAlexis.com, video editing, video calling, a camera on the front AND the back, running third party apps, and well, just the coolness of saying I have the latest and greatest tech gadget.

I wasn’t going to wait in a line for 18 hours, so I waited a few days until everything died down, and marched my little butt down to the nearest store, expecting to walk out with a white 32GB iPhone 4. But NOOOO! They are backordered. And not just that, while I’m at the store, desperately looking at the shiny little display model in the case, I begin to hear little complaining voices at the counters all around me. The iPhone 4 apparently needs a jacket around it so the users fingers don’t block the antenna and interrupt signal. There are also yellow spots appearing on a lot of iPhone 4 screens … that almost makes me wonder what people have been doing with their phones? And even worse, apparently the iPhone 4 does not work with a plethora of accessories as its predecessors did.

So I leave the store, disconcerted. One, because they didn’t have the thing that I have been dreaming about ever since the 3GS came out, and two, because of all the complaints I heard, I didn’t end up ordering it.

So I go home and download the new software for my existing iPhone. Wow, that didn’t go over so good. My already overtaxed battery now lasts maybe 4 hours before taking a shit on me. Nothing really changed on my iPhone except that now I have to carry a charger everywhere I go and my buttons have a little different glow about them.

I know I couldn’t live without an iPhone, and I know that I wake up every morning wondering if all those people are just over dramatic. But seriously, I already drop enough calls? Now I won’t even be able to hold the damn thing without some jacket? And I definitely don’t want a yellow screen, if I wanted any discoloration, it would be in the form of pink or purple, and I don’t hear about that happening.

So it’s come down to this. I’m probably not going to do anything for a few more weeks, and one of these days, I’ll just break down and go in and get it. In the meantime, if anyone has an iPhone 4 that they do not like, feel free to send it to me. I’ll test it out. And for what it’s worth, I do hear a rumor that there’s going to be free downloadable iPhone and iPad content on a certain website for the new Digital Playground movie, Body Heat. Yet another reason to get an iPhone. I just can’t get away from it.
