Venus Rising: Porn vs. Norm

Hello Lovers,

People have been writing in with all sorts of personal questions for me this week. This one in particular intrigued me: what is my life like as a porn star compared to what my life was like before I started making movies?

To start, my personal interests have not changed much since I began working in the Adult Industry but my daily life definitely has more work involved and less time for play. I’ve developed a passion for the business and I’m very hands on in all facets of it. My productivity and responsibilities have certainly increased. I’m constantly improving my website, guiding my company team, creating new projects and social networking. There are only so many hours in a day but I think I utilize nearly every one of them. Any slacking has definitely been left behind in my pre-porn days.

I have found that my social pool and peer group has changed with the success of my career as well. I am surrounded with a more diverse group of people to converse with and learn from. I am always inspired by the interactions I have with movie producers, directors, models, and, of course, my fans.

In my own view, my day to day life has not changed much, I just receive a lot more public attention. I’m not famous to the point where traffic stops and paparazzi follow me around by any means but I do get attention at clubs, red carpet events and just by being out and about. For the most part, random people still perceive me as a “normal” person unless they are fans of my work. I do admit I like still having the ability to blend in and just have a good time and meet new acquaintances.

The biggest difference post-porn has been in my love life. Dating for me has definitely changed. Most guys that reach out to me have some preconceived notion of who I am and usually want some sort of pornstar experience. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do and enjoy new amorous exploits but when it comes to dating being treated like a porn star instead of just a “normal” person is a turn off. In my day to day life and my plans for the future, I ultimately want a partner who is into who I really am on the inside and not just because of my occupation or what my social status is. Being in the Industry has sure made it easier to find guys to date but weeding out the keepers from the potential suitors is the tough part.

To sum up my answer: At the end of the day I am still the girl who wants to be around real friends that truly enjoy me for me. I would not give up the career I’ve found and embrace the changes and challenges it presents me with every day. I look forward to pushing the envelope and see where this adventure leads next.

XOXO,

V.
