April Flores 2What do you think is the biggest misconception people outside the industry have about the industry?

The biggest misconception people outside the industry have about the industry is that the performers are victims. The general population thinks that we have no say or choice in what we do. People think performers are less than smart and that we have no morals. I am constantly asked if I ever feel degraded by my work and I feel the exact opposite. My work in the adult industry empowers me. I felt a million times more degraded while I was working as a receptionist and in office jobs I’ve had. What I have learned from my years in the industry is that it is full of passionate, business minded hard workers. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with some of the most genuine, open minded, fun people. This industry allows people to create work, express themselves and earn income doing in a non traditional way.

What would be your dream scene to shoot, assuming money isn’t an issue?

This is such a great question! I think it would be so hot to shoot in a crowded club. I would want to capture all of the energy and sexual tension that exists in those environments. The scene would start off like a music video where everyone is just dancing and grinding on each other. Eventually one pair would start having sex, then another and another, until the whole club is overrun by this sexual power. This scene would turn into an orgy of beauty and everyone would become this one collective, pulsing organism.

What advice would you give someone who was thinking about getting in the adult industry?

I’d advise someone thinking of getting into the adult industry to know exactly what their motivations are. If they are only motivated by making money, there will be frustrations that arise because not everyone works all the time. I would advise them to do a lot of research. I would tell them that they never have to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing. I would tell them that this industry requires hard work, but will give you lots of fun experiences.

Who are the people you would love to work with but haven’t had the chance to yet?

I would love to work with Joaquin Phoenix in any capacity!

Who would you say your idols are, either within the industry or not?

I idolize people who work hard to accomplish their goals. I admire the people ahead of the curve doing things on their own terms. I look up to artists and people living their truth.

April Flores 3What sort of things do you like to do when you aren’t working? Any hobbies?

I like traveling, going to museums and art galleries. I love cooking and trying new recipes and I like decorating and gardening. I am a photographer and learning the film making process. I love trying new things and am usually up for a new experience.

Are there any projects or special events coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?

I hope readers will check me out at my website or my photo book.
