Interview with Schevelle
January 29, 2008 by Christina
First off, for those who might not know you, what is your name and please describe yourself?
Hello, I’m Schevelle. I’m brunette with blonde highlights with green eyes. I’m 5′6″, 35D- 24- 35. I’m of Italian/French descent; I’m a Texan. I call Austin home, but I work out of Dallas these days, when I’m home. I’m a feature entertainer/dancer/model with a Bachelor of Arts in dance. I’m the 2008 Exotic Performer of the Year, The 2007 and 2006 “Miss Nude Entertainer of the Year” and 2007 Penthouse G-String Awards “Best New Showgirl”.
How did you first get into the exotic dancing world?
I used to travel to different sporting events and motorcycle rallies with a sunglass company that I own. At most of these events they had some kind of “girls contest” Wet T-shirt, Naughty Nighties, or Best Chaps/Bikini, you know. Well I got talked into entering a few. One time when I was at one of these contests, a guy came up to me afterwards and asked if I ever featured at clubs? I said, “What’s a feature?” I decided to do some research. I went to checkout a few feature acts around when I got the chance. I thought, “I think I can do that.” I went out to Vegas to the Exotic Dancer Club Owner’s Expo to talk to some agents and clubs. That went nowhere, so I started entering some contest at various clubs, I began doing pretty well and started getting some club bookings. I was off and running.
What made you interested in doing exotic dancing?
It was the idea that I just might have a chance to use my dance degree in a professional capacity. This is something that I was never aware of before. I must have been out sick on the day they covered this part of the class.
How long have you been dancing and how much of that have you been a feature?
All my life I have been in dance schools or dance troupes. After high school I went to The University of Texas to study dance. It was during college that I found out I was too fat for ballet and too short for Vegas. So I pretty much just gave up on the idea of being a professional dancer for a few years. Things changed and I have been featuring now about four going on five years.
Do you only work by yourself or do you do two girl shows as well while on the road?
I’m a solo act, most clubs don’t hire duo acts these days. Do you know it’s against the law in some states and cities to have two nude women on stage at the same time? I found this out once when I undressed a willing female customer at the stage. Oops! I got in a little trouble for that. One of the many strange local laws I have run across.
What is your favorite part about being a feature dancer and traveling all over the country?
All the great people I get to meet and get naked for! I especially love visiting all the different parts of our country. I’ve had the opportunity to see some really spectacular and beautiful places that I never set eyes on before. I have even run around naked in some of them. I try to take a nude photo of me in every national park I visit.
Seeing that you are a feature dancer and a lot of porn stars started that way, have you ever considered moving into porn or adult magazine work?
No not really, I’m a dancer/showgirl. Doing porn is not really my thing, but I do like watching a good porn movie, hey I’m only human. It’s the voyeur in me.
How would you like to see your career progress in the future?
It seems to me that the Feature Entertainer/Adult Entertainment industry has fallen on tough times lately. I would like to help promote the resurgence of the showgirl and stage performer. That, to me, would be great progress. On a different avenue I hope to get a chance to do some magazine work in the future, maybe some television. In the meantime, I am working on getting additional bookings, to visit new clubs, meet a lot more people and perform for them. In some state of undress.
Do your friends and family know that you are in the industry and do they support your decision?
Yes, they are all very supportive. I will be performing in Dallas later this week and many of them will come and see my shows.
What sort of things were you interested in when you were younger?
As strange as this may sound, the environment has always been another intense passion of mine. I started recycling at a young age after my mom bought me a can crusher, I was hooked. I was an athletic tomboy when I was younger. Although I was small, I played basketball. I was a point guard. I also ran the 300M hurdles on the track team.
What personality trait or traits would your friends say best described you as a young girl? Also please explain your answer.
Goofy, I was this goofy, good, little, catholic girl that was a tree hugger. At one point, I thought about being a nun. I had a love of different and varied types of music. Not just your pop, teeny bopper style. This made me the brunt of many harsh jokes. Of course, now some of these same people are asking me for musical tips and suggestions. So I get a chance to poke fun of them now, in a purely educational way.
Can you share a silly, stupid, funny or embarrassing story that happened that you can share with our fans?
Well once when I was featuring in Texas just as I was about to go on stage, the police and fire department came running into the club, ordering everyone out. It was in the middle of winter! I thought we were being raided or something. It turns out it was a bomb threat. So there we all were in dancer clothing or less, on a main street, freezing our butts of while they searched the building. We got a lot of car horns honking, but it cleared the club of customers for a few hours. It turns out the guy who called in the bomb threat left a return phone number, so he could get his ransom. They found him pretty quick and arrested him, and there was no bomb after all.
Are there any projects or special events coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?
Since I have won “Miss Nude Entertainer of the Year” for two years in a row at Nudes-a-Poppin’, the rules require that I retire as champion from that competition. Right now I am working on a project to sponsor and significantly increase the prize money for the “Miss Nude Entertainer of the Year” title. I hope to have all the details worked out soon. So stay tuned. I also have a foundation I am in the process of setting up called Entertainers for the Environment. I hope to be able to work with other entertainers to raise funds and awareness for the serious issues with the environment that we all face. I know, I know, it’s the tree-hugger in me. But, I think in addition to helping the environment, it would go a long way to improving the image of the adult entertainment industry. We get a lot of bad press these days. Can you say the Duke Lacrosse Team incident? It would be nice to help bring positive attention to our industry for a change.
