This month’s results reveal that over half (55%) of American adults say they believe in love at first sight – with most of those respondents (71%) admitting they’ve experienced it themselves.

Resident Sexpert Dr. Kat Van Kirk states, “While online dating is a great tool to meet people, these results reiterate the fact that as human beings we need to make that physical, personal contact… When it comes to love at first sight, there is simply no substitute for physical presence.”

Of those polled, 27% responded they do not believe in love at first sight, and 18% are unsure.

Chad Davis, Marketing Director for Adam & Eve, adds, “Adam & Eve is pleased to be a part of the research regarding all areas of sexuality… From first dates to relationships to solo experiences, we want to make sure they are as fulfilling as possible.”

“With a regular porn scene, it’s got no frame,” he says. “The movie having a story is much more guiding. You don’t end up inventing the frame around the scene. You just plug yourself into it.”

(Though, admittedly, Jon wonders if he’s the only one who creates plot around the porn he enjoys.)

“I think they should make more features,” he says. “There are so many stories I would love to see made into feature porn movies!”

Interested in enjoying the full pornographic, cinematic experiences, but not sure how to tell the difference between the good stuff from the horrid? Gamelink.com has a great list of the 25 must-have porn features, listing genres as varied from action adventure, murder mystery, romance, to high fantasy.

“These films really suck you in,” say the sexy cats at Gamelink.com, “and once the action starts you’ll have a hard time tearing yourself away.”

Or at least, if it’s done well enough, something will be hard.

So, if people in general seem to like feature length big budget adult films, why aren’t more of them produced?

Last February, AskMen.com released a great list of the top ten biggest budget adult films, counting down to the most expensive. All of these were feature length films, because common sense says the longer and more elaborate the film, the more expensive it will be. There is a huge difference between filming a collection of five 20 minute scenes in one studio over the span of two days verses editing hours and hours of sex, plot, dialogue and special effects.

Simply put, the more effort put into something, the more expensive it will be.

That said, there is something beautiful, simple and pure about having a girl, a boy, and a toy in a dark studio for 30 minutes and filming what happens. But these sort of scenes are sexy, which is a different type of excitement. A three hour full length science fiction spectacular event is exciting in a completely different meaning of the word.

Traditionally, sex flicks had to be seen in theaters. Because of this, directors paid more attention to quality and story (granted, this was circa 1975 quality and story). After all, just watching plain ol’ sex wasn’t usually worth the trouble of leaving one’s home and venturing out into the wide open world. They had to create films that people wanted to go to see. With the popularity of at home videos, however, films began to die out. People could have porn shipped directly to their doors, or even rent from a plethora of options.

(As a kid, I always did wonder what was behind the beaded curtain at the video store.)

Enter the internet, and the face of the adult industry changed forever with a huge wide multi-verse of perverted and delicious options. (Talk about the good, the bad and the ugly!)

The adult industry has a lot of money. Despite the recent downturns of the economy, porn is still making a lot of money. Rather than making money through one big picture event, however, production companies and studios make so much money because they produce dozens of smaller, lower quality films.

Again, filming two guys and a girl in some dude’s living room is not really Hollywood blockbuster quality. Money is made and people are paid, but not to the extent of a feature length adult film to the likes of, let’s just say, Pirates.

Ah, Digital Playground and Adam and Eve’s adult pornographic hit of 2005, Pirates. A feature spoof from the endlessly popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Adam and Eve took something good and sexy and made it awesome and sexier.

When it comes to adult films, many see Pirates as breaking the mould. It wasn’t a 70s or 80s cheesetastic porno flick. It was a blockbuster in the spirit of the big budget Hollywood Blockbuster. The first Pirates had a budget of one million dollars. That’s one million porn dollars, where most films are produced for a fraction of that amount.

And that’s not even mentioning the 2008 sequel, Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenue, which cost even more than the original.

Not only were the Pirates movies more expensive than other adult films, but they featured and released original motion picture soundtracks and milder, rated R edited versions.

And who can forget 1979’s Caligula, the tale of the wayward and decadent (bat-shit crazy) Roman emperor. Co-financed by Penthouse, Caligula was a strange hybrid of independent historical film and hard core, gut wrenching pornography. Probably the most well-known (and infamous) adult film ever made, it is also the most expensive.

Building from the tradition of Caligula and remembering Pirates, feature length adult films seem to be gaining momentum. This year saw the release of Adam and Eve’s post apocalyptic masterpiece, 8^th Day, as well as Wicked’s robot-fembot-replicant love story 2040.

Smaller studios like Girlfriends Films and Sweetheart Video have been paying attention to storylines. These lovely lesbian productions present either a collection of small vignettes loosely tied to an overlying theme (Women Seeking Women), or serial installments continuing an episodic storyline (Road Queen).

Some associate storylines with “couples’ porn” which can have the tendency to have a dragging plot, boring dialogue, and overly dramatic acting. While sex doesn’t always have to be an intense double dong gang-bang, it doesn’t necessarily need to be sickeningly saccharine sweet, either. It should be something for everyone to enjoy, and the modern face of the adult film feature is a great way to experience adult entertainment for the very first time, or to share your porn habits with someone you love.

Modern adult features are the gifts that keep on giving. Pornographic actors and actresses seem to enjoy making them, studios make a lot of money releasing them, and the public loves watching them. Though the acting may not be Oscar award winning, it’s usually better than the typical “is that a sausage in your pizza box or are you just happy to see me and my lesbian co-ed roommate?”

Most of all, they’re pretty. The stories are pretty and engaging, directors pay attention to sets, costumes and other details, and the talent – oh, the talent! In this wonderful world of adult film features, the men are as pretty or talented as the women usually are – and they’re likeable, too!

The Adult Video News (AVN) Awards reward studio’s hard work with plenty of awards each year, and the features are usually a highlight. It’s no secret that 8^th Day and 2040 are both fierce contenders for this year’s honor.

So, pop some popcorn, take out the lube, find your favorite snuggle buddy and pop in a DVD or a toy or two. Finally, enjoy some hard core lights, camera and most of all, action.

Overview:

In the year 2040 (obviously) the world has been dealing with a super virus that makes humans antsy about having sex with each other. The porn industry is still going and in order to keep filming they use life like anabot sex dolls. At this point we are introduced to Ryan Spears who is played by Randy Spears and is in fact playing his own son. He is one of the last remaining real humans in the industry. He shows up on set and in the middle of sex with his anabot costar (Alexis Texas) she breaks down. They do finish that scene but the director needs a new girl so he calls up Morris (Marcus London) who along with Kimi (Kirsten Price) brings down their new model, the MRA-5 or Mira (Alektra Blue). Ryan and Mira do a scene together and he is quite amazed at how advanced she is, as compared to other models he has worked with.

We then meet Duncan Caldwell (Brad Armstrong) who is the head of Real Dolls Industries. He is very interested in the news of this new anabot because Morris was a former employee and the anabot in question was a prototype that he took when he was fired. Obviously he wants back what he believes is rightfully his.

Duncan wants Mira for purely business reasons while Morris, Kimi and Ryan see her as something more than just a machine. Even Duncan’s secretary Monica Sweet (jessica drake) gets pulled into the fray as she tries to figure out what side she wants to be on. Duncan is definitely a sleazeball and drops as low as to use not only use Monica but his head of production Myoto (Kaylani Lei) as well. I don’t want to ruin any surprises but needless to say things start getting very interesting very quickly as both sides work to maneuver in order to either control Mira or set her free. Now we can move on to what you all probably want to really know about and that is the sex.

Scene 1: Alexis Texas and Randy Spears

Right off the back these two start to make out a little bit and go into some foreplay before Randy starts licking her box. Alexis then gets down for a nice BJ before moving into cowgirl. From there they slide nicely into spoons. For the final position they use doggie. Things get hot and heavy here right before she slumps over broken. The go forward with things though as they prop her up so that he can pop on her face. Good energy throughout the scene from Randy and Alexis. Alexis also does a decent job of acting lifeless for the cumshot but we do see a couple blinks and a little movement.

Scene 2: Alektra Blue and Randy Spears

Once Alektra gets all setup in her bondage type outfit and chained to the wall Randy starts by whipping her ass. He is amazed that her skin actually changes color, it is a new model with new features after all. Alektra then gets down to sucking him off before standing up and bending over for some standing doggie. She gets turned around so that they may continue in standing missionary. They then use regular doggie and missionary to finish up the sex. Alektra then sits still for the pop shot to her face. Alektra does a nice job in this scene as she brings out some of her wild side, which most of you will enjoy.

Scene 3: Kirsten Price and Eric Masterson

Eric Masterson is a male anabot that Kirsten is working on when she turns it on to try it out. They start off kissing but this soon gives way to some oral action from Kirsten. Kirsten gets bent over for some doggie action which she seems to enjoy quite a bit before going in to spoons. Missionary is the final position as Eric pumps in and out of her before pulling out and popping on her face. Kirsten does a great job using her dirty mouth in this scene. She is one of the “dirtier” girls on the Wicked roster after all.

Scene 4: jessica drake, Kaylani Lei and Brad Armstrong

Kaylani and jessica are just standing around when Brad walks in. After a little talking he and Kaylani start to fool around a little bit and soon after jessica joins them. This leads to jessica licking Kaylani for a bit while Brad fingers Kaylani at the same time. They both start sucking him off after this and soon after that jessica is standing up and getting it in doggie while Kaylani hunkers down to masturbate. Kaylani gets her first go in reverse cowgirl which allows jessica to rub herself before she hops up for regular cowgirl. Eventually Brad has to pull out and paints both of their faces. Kaylani and jessica both put on good performances. I wouldn’t expect anything less from two veterans like themselves.

Scene 5: Mikayla Mendez, Jerry and Mick Blue

Mikayla plays the head researcher for Real Dolls, Danielle Winston. Jerry and Mick are here newest male models and after she turns them on she starts sucking them both off. Once the boys are warmed up Mick takes Mikayla in standing doggie while she continues to suck off Jerry. Jerry gets his turn in spoons. The action returns to Mick with reverse cowgirl and regular cowgirl. Both guys then finish up by spraying her waiting face and mouth. Mikayla being the fiery Latin spitfire she is gives an energetic romp here. Some good dirty talk as well for those that like that sort of thing, I know I do.

Scene 6: jessica drake and Marcus London

For this scene jessica visits Marcus in his lab and after a little chat session they start to make out as she straddles him. Marcus gets sucked off by jessica after the make out session and then thanks her for that by licking her clam. She then straddles him again for some cowgirl action. At this point Alektra is watching the action quietly from the back of the room. These two switch to missionary next before going to standing doggie anal. I usually don’t care either way about anal but jessica seems to be able to do it with a bit more style and grace than some other ladies in the industry. The scene ends nice with Marcus cumming on her face. More so than the other scenes this one is passionate. Meaning it seemed more like a couple making love than two random people having sex.

Scene 7: Alektra Blue, jessica drake, Kirsten Price, Mikayla Mendez, Kaylani Lei, Jayden Jaymes, Kayla Carrera, Tory Lane, Marcus London, Randy Spears, TJ Cummings, Braf Armstrong, Mick Blue and Rocco Reed

For anyone that has read my reviews before you know that I do not generally break down scenes like this. The action is too chaotic to really follow and it would just take too many words to describe. You can obviously see there are a lot of people in this scene. The good thing is that pretty much everyone interacts with everyone else at least a little bit. We also get some more anal action from jessica as well as a DP from her as well.

Scene 8: Alektra Blue and Brad Armstrong

After he turns her on he starts to grope her right away and proceeds to finger her hard before she drops down to play his skin flute. Standing doggie is the first position for your viewing pleasure. I must say there is quite a bit of the standing positions in this movie which I like because they aren’t used all the time. From there they move into standing doggie anal. Reverse cowgirl anal is used to finish off the scene before Brad sprays her ace. Here is another hot scene from Alektra. Her dirty talk is really good here as well.

Scene 9: Alektra Blue, Tommy Gunn and Bill Bailey

The scene starts off almost immediately with Alektra sucking off both guys. Tommy gets the first poke as he goes in doggie. Bill, who I have not seen in another movie that I recall, then has Alektra mount him for cowgirl and follows that up doggie. Both guys then pop on her face to finish the scene. This is an ok scene. Compared to the previous ones though, it doesn’t quite live up.

Extras:

You get four discs total with this movie. One of those is the 2009 Sampler DVD which has some trailers and promo reels on it. As for the actual extras for this movie, there is a ton. On the second disc there is a great BTS, as expected, an interview with Brad Armstrong, bloopers, box cover shoot footage. There is also a few other featurettes talking about the special effects and the preproduction as well as a “Girls of 2040″ video. On the third disc is where you will find trailers and photos. The stuff on this disc you will want to check out though is the video preview of the Wicked line of Real Dolls. That’s right, in case you haven’t heard; Real Dolls is releasing models that look like your favorite Wicked girl. There is also the extended cut of the orgy scene, a BTS sex reel and four deleted sex scenes which feature Kaylani Lei in an oral only with Marco Banderas, Janet Mason with Randy Spears, a solo scene with Alektra Blue and finally a girl/girl/girl with jessica drake, Kaylani Lei and Mikayla Mendez with the help of a Real Doll.

For those interested there is also an option on the first disc to see the three alternate endings. I would suggest watching the movie with the original ending first and then going back to check the alternates.

Final Thoughts and Rating:

This is the most ambitious Wicked title in recent memory for me. Alektra shines throughout her performance, showing that she is much more than just a pretty face and body. Her combination of raw sexuality and charming demeanor makes for a great total package. Although Alektra does a superb job with her character, the other Wicked girls bring their own element to the movie. Each of them were cast in a way that they could show off their acting abilities and show off their sexual skill and at the same time not take away from who they really are. The storyline for 2040 is great as well. I have seen plenty of “mainstream” movies that did not do as good a job at telling a cohesive story. All the scenes are pretty scorching, with the exception of that final scene which I though was ok. This is a shoo-in for a lot of AVN nominations and awards. So what are you waiting for go and get it right now, trust me you won’t be disappointed. I give 2040 5 out of 5.
