Randy Spears is still fairly new to the directing game. He’s still trying to find his voice in The Artist. In this movie Brad Armstrong plays an artist who has a unique gift. He also has students, one of them being the lovely jessica drake. The movie starts with Brad sitting in front of an easel drawing a picture of jessica. It then switches to him with Exotica, who plays his model. He directs her in different poses and she complies. She acts like a robot in a way, the reason for this gets revealed later.
