In her August Publisher’s Statement, Liz Flynt mourns the death of the crown jewel of the civil rights movement, the Voting Rights Act of 1965. She notes that starting in 2013, the Supreme Court has taken a sledge hammer to this vital legislation and in April of this year the Court destroyed what little there was left. Because of their rulings, in the last three presidential elections, “the racial turnout gap has been growing ever wider. And things are about to get worse. We are now seeing Republicans radically redistrict to dilute the Black vote. Look at Memphis…” To fight this BS, Flynt encourages all readers to “register voters, talk to friends and neighbors, and get out the vote, dammit!”
