It’s either everybody is looking to start an OnlyFans account or hockey fans of the Canadian team Edmonton Oilers, are more jubilant than most. But if you might have missed it (especially our European readers) over the past two weeks there were well-publicized (and seen) incidents of female Oilers fan flashing to celebrate their team’s two successive victories over Florida’s Panthers (although, the Panthers won in game 7 last night) during Stanley Cup play.
It’s not that Edmonton forcing a game 7 in the series was not historic, it was. And we have surely seen female fans flash before. It might just be the ‘perfect storm’ in this instance though in that one flash was closely followed by another and then Kait, the first lady who flashed, inked a deal with Playboy.
And has done her best across social media to exploit her quickly, new found fame.
Let’s face; it hetero men (and hetero men make up the highest percentage of the gender who watch hockey) like looking at bare breasts. This fact simply can’t be debated. And the fact that all we now do can be posted, ‘go viral,’ be enjoyed over and over, adds to the thrill of slipping a snippet of skin across a broadcast and see it built into a cultural phenomenon…at least for a few days.
And, really that transitory fleeting few minutes, Andy Whorl’s obligatory “15 minutes,” makes these instances that much more flash-in-pan precious. Given the nature of how we disseminate information these days, we all know we will be on the next thing (a pair of tatas or whatever it is) on the next tweet.
But for now, let’s celebrate the bared chest, the stunningly exciting Stanley Cup playoffs, Kait inking her Playboy deal, and any other woman-or man-who ever want to show whatever they like.
