Susan Marilyn Block, Ph.D., known professionally as “Dr. Suzy,” is a Yale-educated sexologist, therapist, author, and cultural commentator with a career that extends across more than four decades. She has hosted The Dr. Susan Block Show and related programs for over 45 years, receiving international attention through HBO specials that examined topics including sex, love, pleasure, relationships, awareness, and interpersonal connection.
The Susan Block Institute was established in 1991 by Dr. Suzy as a resource for individuals interested in improving communication, relationships, sexuality, peacemaking, and personal freedom through counseling and educational initiatives.
The Institute’s clinical practice provides counseling and sex therapy services for both individuals and couples addressing issues related to intimacy, relationships, pleasure, and personal growth.
The organization has also produced educational and entertainment content across multiple media platforms. Its projects include The Dr. Susan Block Show, Radio Sex TV with Dr. Susan Block on HBO, FDR Radio, Bedside Chats, Sex Calls, Real Calls, Travels with Max, and Dr. Suzy’s Speakeasy. These productions were created in collaboration with Dr. Block’s late husband, Maximillian Lobkowicz.
In addition to media production, the Institute has published books including The Bonobo Way: The Evolution of Peace through Pleasure, The 10 Commandments of Pleasure: Erotic Keys to a Healthy, Sexual Life, and Advertising for Love: How to Play the Personals. Dr. Block has also participated in lectures and panel discussions at educational institutions and conferences internationally. The Institute’s publishing and production activities include magazines, articles, interviews, music, photography, art, videos, audiotapes, and online media focused on subjects ranging from sexuality and relationships to culture, politics, free speech, and peace.
