Well now that I’m 40 and have a little perspective I can answer this question pretty accurately. Although at one point in my life I was on my way to seminary to become a pastor I have always been an open minded person. I am very particular about most everything and what I might lack in certain skills I make up for by partnering with people who have those skills. Loyalty is very important to me. I choose peace over drama, believe in second chances and that there is good in everyone. I also think peoples personalities are a result of what they were exposed to early in life and how they dealt with it. More hugs for everyone.
What prompted you to join the adult industry?
After being married for a year my wife at the time told me that before we meet she was a play toy for a swinger couple, I was curious, we went to meet them, she entered a amateur contest at a strip club and won, the dancers told her if she really wanted to make money she should be a feature entertainer which meant doing porn. I was always open minded so we looked into how to get started and 15 years later I’m still here.
You recently started your own talent agency called Sylvaria. How did this come about and what is the inspiration for the name?
I started as talent in 2000, before there were many legitimate options for agents. I quickly began learning the process of being an agent out of necessity for myself, wife and girlfriend at the time. That lead to managing a few girls, eventually to working for an agency and seeing the need for more options. I have always enjoyed branding and making up one word domain names, long after using the name I realized that it was a combination of my ex-wife’s original stage name (Marie Silva) and her second stage name she used later in her career (Aria).
You have another agency as well, Adult Star Models. What, if any, is the difference between the two?
Adult Star Models is in place to serve the purpose of what would be considered the traditional adult talent agency, new models and models still establishing their career and brands. at ASM the models rates are negotiable based upon the model and the production companies needs and budget. Sylvaria models are already established models who often have received notoriety thru awards, being a Penthouse Pet etc or just being models in very high demand. Sylvaria models rates are non-negotiable.
There are two main things that bothered me about the documentary:
1. The casual attitude towards a model making a life changing decision to be in this industry.
2. The way that the models are handled and the trashy environment they were/are exposed to.
I remember a time when girls in this industry were treated like true superstars, it’s been a struggle but I’d like to bring that back.
As far as the rest of the documentary goes was there anything else that really got under your skin?
Overall to have had some experience trying to work with this guy in the past and knowing his ignorant, cocky, unprofessional and disrespectful attitude towards the people who have been in this line of work long before him, its disappointing to see him as a representative of what an agent in the adult industry is.
What advice would you give someone who was thinking about getting in the adult industry?
Understand that it has becoming very competitive and that unless you are a 8-10 in looks, attitude and sexual performance it will be very difficult to make being a performer in adult films a long term career, so always like to learn other skills within the industry. In some cases you can make more money constantly as a webcam models or with your own clips for sale site. Also, this career can and will effect your job options and personal relationships later in life. That being said for some people with no other options or a strong desire to explore their own sexual freedom this industry can be very rewarding.
Who are the people you would love to work with but haven’t had the chance to yet?
The models that nobody notices at first and help them to become the next superstar, that is what I enjoy most.
Who would you say your idols are, either within the industry or not?
The people I admire the most are the ones most people would never know. Someone who wakes up everyday and does everything they can to improve the lives of the people around them, always puts themselves last and does not look for recognition or praise. Thats who my idols are.
What sort of things do you like to do when you aren’t working? Any hobbies?
Are there any projects or special events coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?
I am proud to announce that two of our top models Kendra Lust and Ariana Marie believe so much in what we are doing they have actually become partners in the agency. Check back with us because with their support our long list of innovative new projects will be announced very soon.
