Hello Julie, for those who might not know you please let us know you are and please describe yourself?
I’m an award-winning director and rigger, a professional Dominatrix and artist.
What prompted you to join the adult industry?
I was curious about sex and sexual things at an early age.
You are known mostly for your fetish work. How is working in the fetish world different than the mainstream porn world?
I was treated with far more respect in the fetish world than in the porn world. Even when I was submitting I was never made to feel like I was less of a person, like I was when I did mainstream porn. It makes me sad because I was really excited about doing regular porn, but I have too much self-respect to be treated that way. It’s not worth it.
Seeing that you are involved with different kinds of fetish videos, which would you say is your personal favorite and why?
I don’t know that I have one favorite. I do have a very strong foot fetish, and I notice people’s feet in public – men and women. I’m also really into the smoking fetish.
Now you also direct and perform in movies. Which would you say is the more satisfying to do?
I’ve been directing almost as long as I’ve been performing. They’re very different. I enjoy them both in different ways. There are times when I’m directing a scene, and I’m jealous I’m not in it! It’s much easier to be behind the camera sometimes, though. Directing with a gag in your mouth is hard! Plus when I’m holding the camera I know I’m going to get exactly what I want.
You also just celebrated 15 years in the industry. Did you think you were would have such a long career when you started or do you feel blessed that you have been able to stay relevant in an industry with such high turnover?
On top of directing and starring in films, you are also an avid writer. What can you tell us about your writing for the industry and what would you say is your favorite thing to write about?
I write for a couple sites, including Peeperz and Scene Magazine. The Peeperz articles are more blogs, where the Scene Magazine articles are more educational. On the one hand, it’s a bit intimidating to write the educational articles, because you’re totally opening yourself to criticism in a way that’s more personal than being on film, but I’m glad to be putting my college English Major to some use.
What would you say is the biggest misconception people have of people who work in the adult industry?
This is a hard question, because a lot of the perceptions are true. But it depends on who you surround yourself with. It’s the same with any group of people there’s going to be bad eggs. I think generalizing any group of people is always going to be problematic.
What advice would you give someone that is thinking about joining the adult industry?
Don’t jump into anything. Be firm with your limits. Don’t let yourself get into situations where you’re not in control. Drive yourself; don’t be dependent on anyone for anything.
Who are some of the people you want to work with as a performer but haven’t had the opportunity as of yet?
A new model on the east coast has caught my eye, Lori Adorable. She lives up to her name and then some. I’ve played with Brittany Blaze in real life, but somehow we’ve never shot together. Must fix that. I love her curves and that I can make her squirt by fucking her with my feet.
What sort of things do you like to do when you aren’t working on your site? Any hobbies?
Recently, I bought a bike so I’ve been going on bike rides to the beach and in Central Park. I also like to do black and white photography, I paint, go hiking, and love spending time with friends and my animals, two cats, one dog.
Are there any projects or special events coming up that you would like to promote, if so please do so?
I will be attending Montreal Fetish Weekend over Labor Day Weekend, which I’m very excited about. I’ll be sharing a booth with Klawtex latex, walking in their runway show, selling my DVDs and prints and I’ll be in three stage show performances including the show I did with Lydia Lael for her 2nd Place win in the Miss Rubber World competition.
