Recently Wicked.com. the official website for Wicked Pictures, went through a redesign after Gamma, the owner of Adult Time and its subsidiaries, partnered with them to run their website. So, let’s take a look at what the new website offers and how it functions.
Content:
Like it’s previous interactions, Wicked.com is the online destination for most Wicked titles, I say most because there are certain older titles that, as far as I know, have never been on the site. You can watch or download the videos from standard definition all the way up to 4K HD. The options obviously vary depending on when the movie was shot but all recent and future releases will be available in 4K is desired.
One massive drawback though is that, where as before you had the option to stream or download an entire movie, you can only watch a clip at a time and then need to navigate to another page to watch the next scene, assuming it’s available. Another issue is that all of the scenes are not uploaded at the same time. While this creates more frequent updates for the site, it also causes an issue when trying to watch a story driven movie because, even if the whole movie is available, you still have to click the next scene, and if it isn’t available you have to wait a couple of days to see the next part. This isn’t an issue for their all-sex titles though and I have been told that they may allow full title streaming or downloading in the future. Personally, I don’t have as big an issue with releasing each scene individually, but I would definitely like the option to watch the whole movie as one video once all the individual scenes are released.
One extra note here. As of right now, the newest Axel Braun feature, Captain Marvel XXX, is available as one video. I’m not sure why they did that with this specific title and not others, but it does show that they are willing to make the full movie available for viewing.
Editor’s Note: I’m not sure when they added this but as of at least October 31, 2019 you can download or stream the entire movie once each individual scene is uploaded. This is a great change to the platform.
Ease of Use:
The main page features a slideshow of recently released scenes, suggested scenes and recently watched scenes as well as links to the recently released movies and individual performers pages where you can see all the scenes on the site featuring that performer.
Now the search function, and this may have just been my computer, so I don’t want to criticize it too much, seems a bit clunky. The issue appears to be that it starts to search while you are typing and then slows way down instead of just allowing you to type what or who you are looking for and then doing the search. Again, I don’t know if my computer is the issue here or the platform but once you get your search typed in it works very fast.
Cost:
The site offers multiple pricing options that fall inline with most other sites
They have a 3 Day trial for $2.95 and a 30-day option for $19.95, both of which are billed monthly and are streaming only.
For an extra $10 a month, $29.95, you get the option to download the scenes as well and is also billed monthly.
If you would like to pay for a year at a time it will run you $119.40, an average cost of $9.95 a month, that is billed all at once. I would assume that this option will also be rebilled annually, but I didn’t see that shown on the sign-up page so I am unsure.
They recently came off a promotion with lower pricing and I would assume that they may offer the lower rates in a promotion in the future as well but don’t quote me on that.
Final Thoughts and Rating:
While there are some improvements I think could be made, as I mentioned above, this is overall a worthwhile site to check out if you are a fan of Wicked’s brand of adult entertainment. I say it like that because everyone’s taste in movies is different so if you aren’t a fan already and just want to check it, then do the 3-day trial and see if you do like it. Hopefully down the road they offer all of their movies as a whole download or stream but the way they have its setup now is acceptable if not slightly annoying for the fans who enjoy story driven films. If they address some of these issues, I may give it a higher rating down the road but for now I will give it a 4 out of 5.
