Hello, Lovers!
This week I received an incredible response to my column question about longevity and balance in TS marriages and what causes them to fall short of the mark, seemingly time and time again. One of my fans, Tiffany, has grown up inside one of the unions and I felt she gave such a unique insight into how a child feels as they witness the push and pull emotionally, as well as societal judgement’s affect on her parents and the issues that raised. Tiffany writes:

I am a lesbian and I grew up in a homosexual home all my life. My father is a transsexual and my mother is a lesbian. I’ve watched so many relationships fail due to the lifestyle of being a transsexual simply because most have a wandering eye.

Some transsexuals do have a hard time transforming into the body they choose, but at the same time they’re also not ready for it. And what I mean by when I say they’re not ready for it is they’re not ready for that 180 degree lifestyle change. This is a complete change to a lifestyle that most are not familiar with….. they may have chemistry and they may connect in ways that other couples want, but they simply have no trust and I think that’s the problem in a lot of gay relationships, especially those dealing with lesbian couples and transsexual couples. There’s just no trust in their foundation.

Most transsexuals have had a rough life and they bring that into a relationship and expect that other person to understand and to except it, but some can’t understand it simply because they’ve never experienced the struggles and hardships that many transsexuals have been through. They don’t know how to deal with ‘where you’re  coming from’, which causes friction and frustration, which eventually leads to unhappiness.

I know I have questions for Tiffany and I bet you do,too.  I’m going to be interviewing her this week to gain more insight to share with you, so if this sparks an interest or resonates with you as well, feel free to write in. Is it a lack of trust that causes these relationsships to die? Is it the rough road to transition that makes it nearly impossible to connect? I am so interested in what you, the community at large, thinks about this issue.  Tune in for part 2 of this conversation.
