Mistress Cyan, Founder and Producer of DomCon New Orleans, recently visited Nick Tanek online for his live show, Your Kinky Friends to chat about the upcoming convention, opening this week in the historic French Quarter of the Big Easy.
Brought to you by Bad Dragon, JustFor.Fans, and Hustler Hollywood, DomCon NOLA is the premier Professional and Lifestyle Domination convention. The expo brings together Dominatrixes, fetish supermodels, sex educators, content creators and BDSM enthusiasts from around the world to the Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel, 739 Canal Street, October 22 – 26.
Tanek brought up the guests of honor for this year, Ms Ariel of NCSF, Miss Chris, Mistress Ella Strictland, and MsDDom, and asked about the professional Dominatrixes DomCon attracts.
“We've had so many fantastic people,” Mistress Cyan noted. “Every pro Domme you've heard of has been there. I don't know anyone I can ask for that hasn't already been there. There's so much up and coming talent. We've got new people coming to the classes. There's still stars of tomorrow that will be coming in the next year or two.”
Tanek asked for advice for new pros and lifestyle kinksters visiting the convention for the first time.
“Don't be intimidated and attend the socials,” Cyan assured. “The socials are where people let their hair down and be themselves. Introduce yourselves. The thing that's nice about NOLA. New Orleans is down to earth people. They're really lifestyle people that are looking to connect, make friends and play.”
There's a lot of kink events coast to coast, and Tanek asked what was the thing that stood out the most about DomCon New Orleans in contrast to other shows and even the DomCon Los Angeles expo.
“Nola has what's called the second line parade,” Cyan explained “We congregate outside the hotel on Friday evening. We have a marching band and police escort. We have about 200 people in fetish gear, holding floggers, carrying pictures of people who have passed. It's about a half mile parade that marches through the French Quarter. It really showcases our community and our kink and it's a way of remembering those we've lost. DomCon is the only show I'm aware of that does this.”
Additional DomCon sponsors include AVN, Catieosaurus, Kasidie, Spunk Lube, Legally Bound Law Group, VoyrCom, Seattle Fetish Ball, The Stockroom, SouthEast LeatherFest, The Dungeon Store, Mistress Leanne, Mz Emily, Mistrixx J and Torture Garden Los Angeles.
“We have lots of volunteer opportunities,” added Cyan. “It's always been at the forefront of making DomCon accessible to people who want to meet.
